Sweet Faces!

What a great class we have this year! Their smiling faces would give anyone a lift! Please make sure you sign up for an SEP time soon-the time is going by quickly.
We are moving on in Math to working with numbers on a 100 chart so that we can see relationships between numbers. Greater, less than, before, between and other great vocabulary words help us see these numbers as they relate to other numbers. Please help your student finish up the October Math Homework packet by the end of next week. We will be expanding our math facts to higher numbers and working to gain automaticity so that math is easier (and more fun!)
This week in Reading Street we will be learning about working together in history, primarily Abraham Lincoln. Here is the Study Skills Page...

I hope you all had a relaxing long weekend!! Take a look at these cute "Halloween People" aren't they adorable? I think your children are too. The school year is zipping by and we are already learning place value in math in preparation for double digits. Whew! I hope your little one is practicing his/her math facts because they are becoming very important to know.
In Reading Street we are set to begin Unit 2 and some brand-new questions. I love the great vocabulary we are learning!

It has been fun doing a "Reading Street Review" week, we will continue our review next week as well, as it is a short one. The good news for all is that we will not be doing a new spelling list next week. Yahoo! (I can just hear it in class tomorrow!)  One of the neatest things about this new program is the "amazing words" and the way I see our smart little ones using them in their everyday language. I love the vocabulary!!
Despite the short school week, I would still like to see our students read 100 minutes this week and keep practicing their math homework.  *Remember Wednesday is a short day. Have a great fall break!

What a beautiful fall weekend! Enjoy your day with your children tomorrow, we will be in training sessions and meetings. I will be very glad to welcome my happy group back on Tuesday.
This week begins a Unit 1 Review where we will go back and review each place we explored; Communities, Space, Desert and so forth to make sure the concepts are in place. On Friday we will do a Spelling Review with a few words from each unit. (Don't panic-I will send home and post a list here..) I won't have them until tomorrow-so I will add them to this post. Thanks for all of your support.
