Halloween is Coming!

Yes, this is how our students are feeling right now. We will still be holding school and having a spelling test this week! The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday and we will wind our way around the school into the gym. Our party will be from 10:30-11:30. It will be a lot of fun! (Obviously no centers on Thursday!) Please remember it is a short day. There is no school on Friday, the teachers are scheduled to work that day preparing report cards etc... I'm looking forward to visiting with you at SEP's the first week of November.

Wahoo! Great News!

Well, it looks like autumn is really here! I love the changing seasons in our mountains and the chance to learn about new things in school.
We had some great news this weekend! Chevron funded a grant I had applied for to add another ipad to our classroom. We have limited funding for technology, so I really appreciate the opportunity to try to keep our class practicing on current technology. Many thanks to the people at Chevron!!
Every week I put our spelling words on an app called Spelling City. There are several games for your child to play to practice his/her spelling words. You can access the words by choosing the orange tab at the bottom of the home page that says "more lists." Then choose "teacher name" and type in Shelley Garrett, my account at Brookwood will pop up. I will label the words according to the name of our story for the week. In this case, Tara and Tyree. I hope this helps you find fun ways to practice spelling at home.
