It's Still Winter!! But We Are Warm Inside..

Yes, it continues to snow, but we are really keeping busy in Second Grade! We are working so hard to understand double-digit subtraction with regrouping. Seriously, a challenge for everyone. Here is a little rhyme we use to help us...
"More on the floor? Go next door and get ten more!" If the number on the bottom is larger than the top-you need to get a 10 from the number next to it...silly, but effective. Thanks for all you do!

MLK Week-Let's Hope for Warmer Temperatures!

We have felt like we were all packed in together a lot these last few weeks, but the kiddos have been good-natured and endured the cold days of inside recess well. They are a great bunch!
I want to heap lots of praise and gratitude upon all of you for insisting that your second-grader does his/her math homework. These last 2 weeks have been a time for more district testing and I am bursting with pride over out little class! Almost every child (23/24) passed both the computation and story problem math tests for the district!!! The bar was raised and the minimum score is significantly higher than it was 2 years ago and we still did very well. Yahoo!!!! We are showing improvement in oral fluency (reading) too. Please keep doing the great job you are already doing in supporting your child's education.
Here is the information for next week's Reading Street..
