Wow! Great design and architecture !

We have been studying life cycles of plants and animals in class, we had a cool ant farm thanks to Sam Sperry. We are currently trying to sprout some Mammoth Sunflower seeds and we just got a jar of Painted Lady caterpillars today. We are excited to learn more, and our spelling words tie in with our science studies. Here they are: life, cycle, caterpillar, pupa, chrysalis, butterfly, ladybug, antenna, nectar, scale, insect, animal, sunflower, seed, root, stem, flower and pollen. We also have some great bonus words: metamorphosis, proboscis, incubation. Cool stuff for spring!

New Spelling-contractions!

Hi! We will be having our spelling test on Thursday with some contractions that we have been studying in class. Students can earn 2 stickers if they can correctly spell the two words the contraction came from.

Pretty good apps!

Hi Parents,

I have been asked to recommend some of the apps we use in class on our ipods and ipads. Most of these work on the iphone too, but I don't know the other devices out there. I'm just an apple person. Some that I like are:

Math Bingo Games-A Racing Game for Kids by Tap to Learn (new and free last week!)

*Word Bingo and Math Bingo (both are excellent)

Rocket Math-great math concept and fact review

Scribblenauts-not great, but it gets kids writing and they love it!

Counting Money-any of these are good.

I also like mad libs for sentence structure and parts of speech.

Great Job Purple Group!

A wonderful reader's theater was presented to the class this week by our friends. They had great expression and smooth fluency because they had practiced a LOT! I'm so proud of them!

Here are the new spelling words: flower, water, under, over, better, sister, brother, mother, father, after, other, center, tower, shower, cower, power,. These are easy-peasy (mostly) review words that are critical building blocks for our students. I hope to see lots of 100% scores!

Another Short Week!

No new spelling words this week, we will be doing some word work in class (spelling sight words and adding suffixes) I am looking forward to seeing all of you this week at SEP's!
